Donate to the Souper Bowl Food Drive!

This Super Bowl season, the Kiwanis Club of Meriden and our family of school-based Service Leadership Programs are proud to announce the 10th annual Souper Bowl Citywide Food Drive for the Meriden Soup Kitchen, now until February 7!

For more than 40 years, the Meriden Soup Kitchen has provided nutritious meals to those in need. Today, the Soup Kitchen’s volunteers serve nearly 40,000 meals annually. They need our support and the Meriden Kiwanis Family is stepping up to coordinate a city-wide food drive.

HOW TO DONATE!

• Donate Non-Perishable Food Items: Drop off your donations on Saturday, February 7 from 9:00am-4:00pm:
  • Stop & Shop, 485 Broad Street Street (Meriden)
  • Meriden Soup Kitchen, 460 Broad Street (Meriden)
• Donate through Venmo: Send a monetary donation via Venmo to @KiwanisClub-Meriden. Include “Souper Bowl” in the memo.

ITEMS Most Needed at the Soup Kitchen

• applesauce (single serve containers)
• canned vegetables (corn, carrots, green beans, peas, potatoes)
• large cans/boxes of broths (vegetable, chicken, beef)
• pasta (ziti, penne, rigatoni, elbow)
• Italian salad dressing
• instant potatoes
• beans (baked, pork & beans, garbanzo)
• large cans/boxes of basic soups (chicken noodle, vegetable, tomato)
• canned or bottled pasta sauce
• crushed or diced tomatoes
• large containers of juice
• Parmesan cheese
• butter
• milk that doesn’t require refrigeration
• paper towels

Since 2017, Kiwanis has collected and donated 459,560 food items and $7,766 to the Meriden Soup Kitchen through the Souper Bowl.
